There are thousands of books, DVDs, CDs and courses available that promise to reveal the secrets to success. So how do you find out which ones are worthy of your time and money?

In my case, I didn't have a clue where to find the answers to these questions. That was until I accidenty discovered a convenient and affordable way to access the finest success resources in the world.

The Foundation of Success

Is there a specific area in life where you'd like to be more successful? Maybe it's finances, business, romantic relationships, family, friendships or health and fitness. Or maybe you're seeking success in all of these areas. But what exactly is success and how do we measure its achievement?

Let me share a definition that I have learned and found to be true:

Success is the achievement of goals.

Without the setting of goals you have nothing by which to measure success. Goals also provide the motivation needed to take the action required for goal achievement and therefore success.

With that in mind, knowing how to set goals is vital . Here are some of the main steps to effective goal setting that I have been taught:

1. Make your goals very specific and write them down.

2. List the steps of action you must take to achieve the goal.

3. Set a timeline for the completion of each step of action leading towards the goal.

4. Divide long-term goals into a series of smaller ones. This enables you to stay motivated, see progress and avoid discouragement over a longer period of time..

Once you've mastered the setting of goals, the next step is to aquire additional knowledge about success and achievement possibilities. Knowledge gives you the power to succeed. We'll take a look at that next.

I read dozens of books about achieving goals, success and making my dreams come true. Each time I finished a book I would be motivated to put into practice what I had learned. I would begin enthusiastically, but lose momentum fast when things didn't happen as they were supposed to. The process would then repeat itself with the next book.
